
Last year, I wrote an article on this topic with strabismus sufferer, Olarewaju Uka, and strabismus expert, Prof Saurabh Jain, for The Ophthalmologist magazine. It describes a troubling experience that Olarewaju had when trying to create a CV headshot using ChatGPT. Prof Jain has made some striking comments in the article as to why this is happening.

I think there needs to be a debate on how it was possible that AI generated a photograph of Olarewaju that automatically ‘corrected’ his strabismus, and what does this say about society’s attitude towards strabismus patients with visibly misaligned eyes?
